Coffee and Lunch Indulgences inspire to save money on Insurance CTAre your personal here-and-there spending habits getting you in trouble when they’re all added up? Maybe… Yahoo News breaks down some statistics about how Americans’ indulgences add up:

  • U.S. workers spend more than $1000/year on coffee
  • U.S. workers spend about $2000/year on lunch

Men and younger workers are more likely to spend around $5 for a coffee, whereas women and older workers are more reserved.

  • Per week, workers spend about $37
  • Men spend more ($47/week)
  • Women spend about $27/week

The biggest differences are seen when broken down by age:

  • 18 to 34 year old professionals spend around $25/week on coffee
  • Workers over 45 spend around $14/week on coffee

Keep in mind that the money spent on coffee and lunch (around $3000/year) is double the average commuting expense ($1500).  You can probably guess that many of these “youngsters” made a New Year’s resolution to save money by bringing lunch to work this year. Last Minute Shopping & CT Auto Insurance

CT Auto Insurance protecting last minute Christmas shoppingIf you’re a last minute shopper like me, you probably haven’t gotten something for everyone on your list yet. The good news is that you still have two and a half days, and you have these great shopping tips from personal shoppers to handle last-minute shopping!

  • Make a plan. You don’t make good decisions if you do not know what you are planning to buy, not this late in the game anyway. Write down everyone you need to shop for and keep a list of what you’ve bought for them for years to come.
  • Wait until December 24th. At this point, the majority of people have finished their shopping, including many procrastinators. Stores are not as crazy on Christmas Eve. If you do encounter long lines in department stores, go to men’s or home departments. You should also note that stores usually close early on this day.
  • Give gifts that disappear. Consumable gifts such as food or wine are appreciated by most people, and they can be inexpensive and thoughtful as well. Since people often don’t have the room to put new trinkets, giving them something that goes away is appreciated.
  • Give experiences or services. You can make up your own gift certificates for various chores that you could do for the person, such as babysitting or housecleaning. You can also give the person the option to choose the play or restaurant he or she wants to go to. This way, you can avoid stores completely and the person really gets what he or she wants!
  • Shop in your own home. There are limits to regifting, but perhaps a piece of clothing that you’ve never worn would look better on someone else you know. Children often get excited at being able to pick something out of your house as well.
  • Avoid department stores. This late in the game, department stores are usually cleaned out. Most likely, you will spend more time looking for stuff and find less than you need. Smaller boutiques have shorter lines and usually get new stuff in more frequently.
  • Skip clothing. When you’re rushed and don’t have a lot of options, you’re more likely to purchase something that the other person will not like.
  • Embrace gift cards. You can make it more exciting by getting something to put the gift card into. For example, stick a coffee shop gift card into a coffee mug. You can also get gift cards online (note: no stores)!
  • Pare your list. Perhaps you and your friends decide to go out to dinner together instead of buy each other gifts. However, make sure that the people you are taking off your list are on board;  you certainly do not want to lose friends!

During the holidays, it’s important to make sure that your Connecticut insurance is ready for all the hustle and bustle. While frantically driving around trying to get your last minute gifts, you want to be protected from the other worried drivers doing the same. Talk to your CT insurance agent about the Connecticut Auto Insurance that is right for you. Agents at Encharter Insurance can get you local service and free quotes on CT insurance policies. Happy shopping and enjoy the holidays!

CT Home Insurance protects your homeWhat happens when your working roof suddenly becomes leaky? What if that’s just the beginning of your problems? A Connecticut woman hired a contractor who has practically destroyed her home. There is no longer water in her sink and her toilets no longer work. CT Boat Insurance Covering December Boaters

Posted on 2nd December 2011 by admin in Connecticut Boat Insurance |CT Boat Insurance

CT Boat Insurance protecting December boatersMost recreational boaters know they shouldn’t be traveling in rainy, windy weather, but an unidentified boater traveling between two points off Long Island was rescued early Wednesday morning when he called the Coast Guard to report his chest pains and his boat taking on water. While riding out to rescue the man, the Coast Guard went through the same rough seas which had four-foot waves and a 20-knot wind. The heavy winds made it difficult to locate the man’s boat. His 24-foot sailboat, “Freedom,” was rescued and is docked in Connecticut awaiting a commercial tow.

With the nice weather that we’ve been having, you may still want to take your boat for a few rides before putting it away for the winter. Be sure that your Connecticut Watercraft Insurance is up-to-date and ready for your adventures. You should be covered for liability, medical payments and physical damage. Connecticut insurance agents at Encharter Insurance can make your next ride completely carefree so you can enjoy the last few nice days of the year (in December)! Talk to your CT insurance agent about CT Boat Insurance coverage during the winter months! You may not need to pay as much!

Gift Puppies & Your CT Home Insurance

Home Insurance Connecticut

Courtesy of 1Funny.com

This time of year comes around and we’re all scrambling to find the perfect gifts. Let’s be honest, though…what’s better than giving a puppy? It’s like you’d be wrapping up loyalty, friendship and love in a package only it would be exploding with cuteness!

Before you go off and find that little dog that will certainly steal your heart and the heart of your family, have you considered your current CT Home Insurance policy?

As adorable and loving as your pup may be with your family, it does present its own liability risks.  What if your dog should become aggressive and attack a neighbor or friend? You would be liable for any damage caused by your dog and it won’t matter how loving you think he is with the family. Are your current liability limits enough to protect you from the losses of a potential lawsuit?

While you’re having an insurance expert at Encharter Insurance review your current CT Homeowners Insurance policy, it would be a good idea to talk to them about the newest four-legged member of your family and about additional liability coverage in the form of a CT Umbrella Insurance policy.
