Do we have any Pats fans out there? Well, if so, I imagine that you’re about to get really jealous. Members of the Encharter Insurance team were able to spend the better part of Monday at Gillette Stadium…yup; Gillette Stadium! Encharter CEO, Ken Petersen, and Encharter’s Operations and Social Media Manager, Dave Siekman, were invited by ARS Restoration to speak on the topic of social media for business. Chris Legrow and Ben Beauchaine were there as well to represent our sales team, while the oh-so-talented-just-so-fantastic-and-totally-modest Encharter Social Media Team, aka Heiphanie, was there to record the event on social media.

Ken and Dave spoke about how our social media strategy has put us on track to doubling our new business in just one year…(let’s let that sink in for a sec…). JUST ONE YEAR!! And we, at Encharter, are so excited about that, that we have our executives go out and speak to you about, not only how social media has helped us, but also how it can help you! Ken and Dave talked about how claiming your Google, Yahoo and Bing! Maps/Local Listings and blogging can help boost your SEO; not to mention the bump you’ll get from Facebook and Twitter and don’t forget about Youtube and Flickr.

To see a more detailed summary of the discussion, visit our social media team’s (aka Heiphanie) blog, “Whale of a Blog!”. Also, to see the tweets from the day, search for #ARSRestoration927 on Twitter or Google Real Time Search. And finally, our social media team would really like to get to know you, so friend them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter! You’ll get the chance to see social media tips and you might even be able to teach them a thing or two!

If you’re a business owner in Connecticut and you would like to learn even more about how you can use social media to grow your business, email us at heiphanie@encharter.com. We can tell you all about our Partners Program and start taking steps to helping you grow!

Visit the Big E This Weekend!

I am just so excited for the Big E this year! I have always loved fried pickles and visiting the state houses and, even though I live in Connecticut, Vermont was always my favorite house because of their maple sugar candy and their maple cotton candy. Yummy!!! I’m having cravings already!

So while you’re on your way to Agawam this weekend (because we know that none of you will be calling out sick from work to go…), be sure to drive safe and drive smart. Talk to your Encharter Insurance agent about your Connecticut Car Insurance policy. Your Connecticut Insurance agent can help you be sure that you are adequately protected from loss in the event of an accident. And if you’re carpooling with another family, you may want to ask them about an Umbrella Insurance policy for additional liability coverage.

Have fun at the Big E, eat lots of food, ride lots of rides, and don’t forget about your Encharter Insurance agent! Contact us at 888-865-1244, visit our virtual insurance office at www.encharter.com or visit one of your local Encharter Insurance offices.

Connecticut Business InsuranceI LOVE fall! I have been so privileged to live in New England for my whole life and have been able to experience autumn in all its beauty and festivity—the cider, the foliage, the fairs! Fair season is in full swing now and the Bethlehem Fair is up this weekend. Be sure to visit the fairgrounds for great food, fun rides and interesting vendors. And there are always the pony and oxen draws and the tractor pull. It’s great fun for the whole family and a wonderful way to usher in the fall!

Hello again, readers!

Here we are at the Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce in Waterbury, CT, where the social media team’s fearless leader, David Siekman, is speaking about Blogging and Photosharing. Why do you want to be blogging and photosharing? For Search Engine Optimization (SEO)!

Remember that when you’re blogging to boost SEO for your business, you need to have fresh content that is relevant to your business, relevant to the times and relevant to your audience. Of course, that means NO LINK SPAMMING! Be sure to not only use credible sources in your blog entries, but also link to those websites. It’s kind of like “credibility by association”. Hard-up for ideas? Use tools such as Google Trends and the Google Wonder Wheel. For some examples of blog entry content, keep reading this blog, or visit our other blogs, listed here.

Now onto photosharing…sites such as Flickr, Picasa, DailyBooth and Fotolog allow you to upload your personal photos to the web, share them and open up opportunities for networking. However, as important as photosharing is, be sure you’re blogging, utilizing your local listings, and optimizing your Facebook and Twitter pages.

Thanks, all, for joining us today!  Keep updated with Encharter by following us on our social media sites and keep an eye out for our blog and social media sites dedicated specifically to social media. They will be opportunities for us to share our ideas on how to use the internet to our competitive advantage more efficiently and we can learn from each other! So again, keep an eye out!

Hurricane Earl Beating Up On the East Coast; Encharter Insurance to the Rescue!

Connecticut Homeowners Insurance

I think that it’s pretty safe to say that the thing on most minds this Labor Day weekend is Hurricane Earl, which is slowly making its way up the east coast. Well, here is some “need-to-know” stuff for our faithful blog readers:

  • The insurance carriers that our agency represents have taken away binding authority for a brief period of time (from the day before yesterday up through the time in which Earl decides to stop picking on the eastern seaboard, the big bully…). This prevents unscrupulous people from buying insurance right before a storm and then cancelling the coverage right after.
  • For the future: Be sure to buy your Connecticut Homeowners Insurance BEFORE you need it! The safety net of an insurance policy will not help you after you’ve already taken the fall.

So prepare for Hurricane “G”, “H” and “I” now (Tropical Storm Fiona stole “F”…) by calling your local Encharter Insurance agent today to review your CT Homeowners Insurance policy! They can help with the rest of your preparation by reviewing your Connecticut Car Insurance policy with you as well. Contact us today at 888-865-1244, you can visit our virtual insurance office at www.encharter.com or you can visit our office for insurance in Watertown CT! And now, be sure to find us on Twitter© and Facebook©!

One Day in the Life of a Social Media Engineer…

Connecticut Car InsuranceHello Encharter Blog Readers,

It’s our second day here, at the 8th Annual Northeast Snow & Ice Control Expo in Marlborough, MA, and it’s been tons of fun! What’s not to like? It’s been two days of meeting business owners from all over the region and talking to them about how Encharter Insurance can help them grow through using social media. And, there’s still the chance to win those Red Sox tickets! Sports and social media…it doesn’t get much better than that!

Dave and Stephanie are, right at this moment, at our seminar getting these seasoned, winter-loving, snow-removing contractors excited about using social media. They’re talking about how social media isn’t just for the “twenty-somethings living in their parents’ basements”—that social media tools, such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Flickr and LinkedIn, have become the new marketing tools of choice for companies all over; that they’re effective; and that they’ve worked for us!

Bombarded with the strikingly fluorescent colors of orange, green and yellow of the plowing equipment, this social media engineer gets the distinct impression that these folks like to make an entrance and they like to get noticed. Our mission is to help them realize that social media is the best way to get Google (and their Google-using prospects) to notice their small business.

If you’re interested in learning more about how social media can help your business, or even if you don’t understand it or you think it’s a waste of time, we’d love to talk to you! Using a blended social media strategy has done amazing things for us and we are excited at the idea of seeing it work for you as well! Email us at socialnetworks@encharter.com today!

All this from just one of your Encharter Insurance Social Media Engineers,

Heidi :)
