Something that every car owner should have in mind is how to keep their car for the longest period of time possible. “Why”, you ask? Well, according to money-saving guru, Liz Pulliam Weston, the longer you keep your car, the fewer car payments you’ll have, the lower the insurance costs you’ll have and the more time you’ll have to save for your next car. Now, how to? Here are some tips from the same article:
Follow the maintenance schedule
Be alert for recalls
Take it easy on the engine
Be diligent about oil changes
Find a good mechanic
Of course, sometimes it doesn’t matter how much you prepare, accidents happen; so the thing to do to protect you and your car in a situation like that is have the right CT Car Insurance coverage. Talk to your local Encharter Insurance agent about reviewing your current Car Insurance policy to make sure that you are adequately protected. And if not, they can help you find the best possible coverage for the best possible price.

I can hardly believe that I am admitting this, but I used to watch movies on the Lifetime Movie Network. In my slightly misguided viewing ventures, I saw one movie that was both intriguing and ridiculous called “I Me Wed”. In a nutshell, it’s about a woman who decides that she is tired of everyone asking when she is going to get married and she is getting impatient waiting for “Mr. Right”, so she decides to marry herself. I found this intriguing because I had all I could do to barely understand a rational train of thought that would lead to such a drastic decision. I found it ridiculous because I thought the likelihood of such a thing happening to be slim indeed. Apparently I was wrong. A Taiwanese woman has decided to marry herself and, according to a recent article, “has posed for a set of photos in a flowing white dress, enlisted a wedding planner and rented a banquet hall for a marriage celebration with 30 friends.”
Well, whoever you decide to marry and wherever you decide to marry them, I think that it is universally understood that weddings are expensive—and not just monetarily. Weddings and wedding planning are taxing on your finances, sure, but it’s also an investment of your time and your emotions. It’s one of the few days you will live that will change your life forever. It is valuable, so looking into CT Wedding Insurance would be a good idea. After all, you insure your other valuables with Car Insurance and Home Insurance; is this any different?
So before you say “I Do”, make sure that you’ve got the “What if…?” covered. Talk to your local Encharter Insurance agent today about Wedding Insurance (and maybe even a Jewelry Floater Insurance Policy for that ring)! It seems we are going to have to wait just a little longer to get our hands on the new, Euro-looking $100 bill. Earlier this month, The Federal Reserve Bank decided to delay the release of the new bill, which was scheduled to be put into circulation on February 10, 2011. There was an error in the printing process of the bill, so now The Federal Reserve will be playing catch-up to obtain enough inventory for a country-wide release.
This new bill has a wide variety of innovative security features. It contains more watermarks, security strips, 3D strips, and has a few more tricks up its sleeve. These attributes will drastically reduce the amount of counterfeit bills in circulation and The Federal Reserve Bank may begin to apply these features to other denominations as well. Not surprisingly, these features will give banks and consumers peace of mind to have so many security features.
Much like this bill is protecting people from risk, CT Umbrella Insurance from Encharter Insurance allows for that extra protection in case of an unwanted accident and liability risk. Umbrella Insurance provides additional liability coverage (usually of $1 million) that will extend the existing liability coverage that you have in place on your home and auto policies. So it’s happened again, unfortunately for the executives of Toyota: another recall. According to a recent article, this time the company is recalling “approximately 740,000-2005 through 2006 Avalon, 2004 through 2006 Highlander (non-hybrid) and Lexus RX330, and 2006 Lexus GS300, IS250, and IS350 vehicles sold in the United States to address the possibility that a small amount of the brake fluid could slowly leak from the brake master cylinder, resulting in illumination of the brake warning lamp.”
For more information about the recall, how to contact the company and where you can pose questions, see the article.
And now would be a good time to talk to your Encharter Insurance agent about CT Car Insurance. Your agent can make sure that you are properly covered and protected from loss. This is the time of year to enjoy the last hint of warm weather we have left. People are going on hikes, taking the family apple picking, enjoying a bike ride or run, and tailgating for their favorite football team. Autumn is my favorite season and it is best enjoyed here in New England. We have the Patriots in full swing vying for a divisional title, apple orchards bustling with customers and foliage is in full bloom.
I love stepping onto my porch to see trees of all colors. Green is still prevalent on many trees, but most are transforming their leaves into yellow, orange, red and scarlet. Taking in all of these colors can have you take a good look at your home. Frequently, with the winds and rain we have been having, trees can have branches break off as they shift their weight. Trees can be a scenic sight, but only when rooted firmly in the ground. It is disheartening to see a tree dangle its branch or entire body over your prized garage or attic.
It only takes one heavy rainstorm to have a branch snap off. In an instant, your roof could be crushed, incurring a heavy toll to repair it without insurance. Fortunately, we offer Home Insurance to help you out on an unfortunate occasion like that. Talk to your local Encharter Insurance agent by calling them at 888-865-1244 or you can visit them in one of our local offices. They want to help you enjoy the season without the stress of potential damage to your home.

Generally, I love to cook. I love to make big meals, tasting them as I go (don’t judge—it’s the chef’s prerogative!). Well, I hope you’re happy. All of you who kept saying that “We need the rain”…we heard you and, apparently, so did the clouds that were camping out over the East Coast. Just kidding…sort of. The east coast really was getting slammed with rain this week, and even if we did need it, we were getting ready to need inner tubes for our commute!
Of course all this rain means a bigger potential for flooding. Do you have Flood Insurance? Talk to your local Encharter Insurance agent about your CT Homeowner’s Insurance policy and possibility of purchasing a Flood Insurance policy. There are a lot of factors that will determine the propriety of such a policy, so you’ll need to draw from the knowledge and expertise that our agents have in order to make an informed and financially prudent decision.

I woke up this morning and could instantly hear the rain pounding down on my roof. With a quick look outside, I see I had two extra neighbors than normal; ducks had congregated in a miniature pond that formed overnight in my backyard! Luckily, I had some bread that was going bad so we became fast friends. With a quick check online to see the weather reports, I noticed that we are to expect an extra 2-4 inches of rain, on top of the 4 inches we received yesterday! At this rate, our very own Encharter Whale will be able to live comfortably alongside my new duck friends (named Donald and Daffy, of course). (Oh, and our whale still needs a name, by the way. Be sure to submit your name suggestions here!)
With the amount of rain now hitting the East Coast, home owners will be pumping water out of their basements, making all kinds of soup, and starting up water polo teams. While the soup can taste delicious and playing a new sport in your temporarily converted backyard can be fun, pumping out your basement or cellar never is. Important materials and appliances can be kept down there, and losing them due to extra water can be terrible. Make sure you don’t get set back because Mother Nature decided to be a little fiercer for a week. Next time it rains this much, it could be much worse; just ask Virginia and North Carolina, with 12 and 22 inches respectively. Yes, that is right, twenty-two inches! If that comes in snow form, we are in lock-down mode.
We have to be on the defensive when it comes to weather. Make sure you have the proper Flood Insurance coverage. And if you’re not sure what that would mean for you, don’t be afraid to contact your local Encharter Insurance agent. They would love to review your Flood Insurance policy with you, along with your CT Home Insurance and CT Car Insurance policies! Contact them today at 888-865-1244, visit their virtual insurance office at www.encharter.com or visit one of their local offices. Find them on Facebook and Twitter too!
