Pats vs. Colts

Tom Brady or Peyton Manning?  Peyton Manning or Tom Brady?  This question has been asked time and time again over the past decade.  The two best quarterbacks in the National Football League are constantly compared week in and week out.  This past Sunday, the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts met for the eighth straight season, despite not being in the same division.

As the top interdivision rivalry in the NFL, the game had a playoff feel as each team wanted to prove their worth and better their rival.  These quarterbacks are the most important part to each team, which has some wonder how the teams will fare in the future.

Both teams were looking to protect their quarterbacks.  As the essential element to the team, it is rare for a backup to step in right away and dazzle an opponent.  Matt Cassel attempted this feat in 2008, but failed to lead the Patriots to the playoffs with an 11-5 record.  To avoid another injury to Brady, the Patriots offensive line will try to go two straight weeks without allowing a sack.

Great offensive linemen provide peace of mind and act as insurance on the quarterback.  Leigh Anne Toughy said it best in the Oscar nominee The Blind Side, “as every housewife knows, the first check you write is for the mortgage, but the second is for the insurance.”

Insurance is a vital part in protecting your home.  Much like an offensive line, it protects you against what you hope does not come, an accident.  Encharter Insurance provides you with excellent CT home insurance coverage and can provide CT personal umbrella insurance to extend your liability coverage.  Call an agent today at (888) 865-1244 or visit the website.

The Release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows This Week

The time has come.  Tonight marks the night we have all been waiting for.  After two hours and twenty-six minutes, we can all exhale.  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 will be released in theaters nationwide tonight at midnight.  Part One of the two-part movie series finale has high expectations from the Muggle fans around the world.  As always, some people lined up to watch the premiere will be dressed up as their favorite character for the second to last time.

Part Two comes out in July and fans are already anticipating an action-packed two parts.  The 870 page book is full of suspense and mystery, so dividing the book into two movies will hopefully please readers that want the movies to be as accurate as possible.  Even though some of the best parts of the series happen in the second half of the book, the first half has important events and crucial stories connected to the plot.  Unlike the previous movies, scenes will not need to be cut as much to save time.

With this epic saga coming to a close, many are wondering what to do next.  Some will reread the series to stay connected, others will move on to the next big thing.  Everyone would agree it was quite a ride and were glad to be entertained since Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was first released in 1998.  Tonight marks the beginning of the end to an era of wizardry and page-turning anticipation.

No one is quite sure how to take the ending of the series, but the unknown will there until July comes.  At Encharter Insurance, we are always looking to protect from the unknown.  We will not be able to help you against your feelings of the ending of a series you loved, but we can help you from unpredictable accidents.  Encharter offers Personal Umbrella Insurance to add to your liability coverage and Home Insurance to protect your most important asset.  Pass the time before the movie begins by checking out our website at encharter.com.

Harry Potter Takes Over Grand Central Station

Normally, we go about our business in public just try to get from A to B.  However, sometimes things catch our eye and make us stop and watch for a while.  Grand Central Station played host to a few Harry Potter characters acting out a scene from the book.  The vile villain, Voldemort, and his cohorts can be seen acting out a scene from the upcoming movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One.

Whether or not these people are fans having fun or it’s a guerilla marketing campaign is yet to be known, but the expectations for the Harry Potter movie are enormously high.  Splitting the final book of the series into two movies will allow for more accuracy and drama, pleasing diehard fans that dislike when the movies stray from the book.  Movie theaters will have lines rounding corners on November 19th

Either way, the scene they acted out in Grand Central will undoubtedly look better in the film.  Without scenery or props it is hard to tell that the villains are destroying a house around them while they act out.  When the scene ends, the house is left in ruins.  You will not need to worry about He Who Must Not Be Named coming into your home and destroying everything he sees, but Mother Nature and accidents have other plans.  Home Insurance is one of the most important things to have to protect your house so whether it’s the weather or Voldemort that can harm your house, make sure to check your policy with Encharter Insurance and consider Personal Umbrella Insurance for additional liability coverage.  Be sure to check out Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 at a theater near you.

Bounce Back “Swift-ly” with Encharter Insurance

Whether you like country/pop music or not, no one can deny the amount of buzz Taylor Swift’s new album has received.  The twenty year-old star has eleven songs on the Billboard’s hot 100.  That means over ten percent of the chart is dedicated to Taylor Swift.  To put that into perspective, she has more songs on the top 100 from one album than any Beatles album…EVER.  The Beatles record was 14 total on the chart, but that was totaled from two albums and lasted for three weeks.  Moreover, some of their songs were covers.

Swift’s album, Speak Now, has 14 original songs and it is flying off the shelves.  She has come a long way from the time she won a Video Music Award and Kanye West famously stole the microphone from her, announcing Beyoncé deserved the award.  She was able to bounce back from that ordeal to release the number one album in the country.

The Swift vs. Kanye incident went viral instantly and will be a historic moment at the VMAs.  Much like Swift was able to rebound from the Kanye confrontation, Encharter Insurance wants to help you bounce back from any unexpected event in your life.  With home and business insurance, Encharter is able to cover you for multiple instances.  Moreover, Personal Umbrella Insurance can cover you with additional liability coverage.  Even though your event will not be as well-known to the world, Encharter wants to help you get back on your feet.  Give us a call at (888) 865-1244 or stop by one of our offices. CT Car InsuranceAfter a long day, nothing beats sitting down to relax on a comfortable seat, with warm air around you and drift off into a calm sleep while sitting in a car going 65 miles per hour.  HEY! WAKE UP!!  Falling asleep at the wheel is one of the worst things a driver can do.  Attempting to drive with your eyes closed can be on par with drunk driving, which everyone can agree is a risky and dangerous thing to do.

According to a recent study by AAA 41% of drivers admit to having nodded off at the wheel.  In the last year, 10% of drivers admit to having had some shut-eye behind the wheel.  Clearly, this is dangerous considering car accidents are already a leading cause of death in the United States.  Even if you don’t fall asleep, being drowsy severely hinders your reaction time and awareness.  The mind starts to wander to thinking of a comfortable bed and dreams.

This has become such a problem that there this week is actually Drowsy Driving Prevention Week.  Employees are working long hours and can’t help from not being completely awake on the commute home.  However, the dangers cannot be overlooked and the safest thing to do is find a rest stop for a quick power nap before causing some real damage.

Even if you don’t drive drowsy, someone in the lane next to you might.  Check your auto insurance policy at Encharter Insurance to make sure all of your coverage needs are met.  For further information, call us at (888) 865-1244 or stop by one of our four offices to talk to one of our agents. I love to drive! But it wasn’t always that way. I didn’t get my license until I was 18 and only because my parents forced me to get it. I was terrified of getting behind the wheel of a vehicle and becoming the victim of circumstances beyond my control which may have resulted in an accident. I am sure that I would have greatly benefitted from a defensive driving course. Good news? There is such a thing! DrivingUniversity.com is a website that hosts online defensive driving courses for all 50 states.

The Connecticut Defensive Driving Online Traffic School costs only $29.95 and you can pace yourself. Your certificate of completion will be mailed to you, but you are responsible for informing your insurance company, the DMV, etc of your completion. See the website for more answers to frequently asked questions and to start taking the course today.

Of course there is the obvious reason of safety that should encourage you to take this course.  You’ll be sure to drive safer and feel safer while you’re on the road. Another reason to take this course is the potential for discounts on your Connecticut Car Insurance policy. Talk to your Encharter Insurance agent today about your CT Car Insurance policy and any other discounts we might be able to offer you.

Video Games: The Newest Danger to Your Curio Cabinet

Four years ago, the Nintendo Wii was released and revolutionized the video game world.  Since then, they have the most console sales and are popular with users of all ages.  The easy to use wireless controllers are a hit among players, and the unique motion sensing technology blew consumers away.  Since then, Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 have been playing catch up.  Earlier this week, Microsoft released Kinect, an add-on of sorts to their Xbox 360 system.

Playing off of the idea of motion-sensing technology, Kinect is similar to the Wii and PlayStation’s Move.  However, Kinect does not need a controller.  All the player needs is an able body and ample space.  This advanced technology is the next step in console gaming.  Microsoft does face some obstacles with the price of the software being almost $150 and space is needed to play the games.  Consumers can play the Wii while sitting down of need be.

However, the appeal of no controller is quite high and Kinect has received positive reviews.  Microsoft will continue to improve the product to make it a must-own for all Xbox users.  If you happen to have Kinect, friends from all over will come to your house and try out the system.  This amount of moving bodies in your living room can increase the chance of an accident.  Encharter Insurance offers additional liability with Personal Umbrella Insurance to protect you further against accidents that can happen.

CT Umbrella InsuranceMonopoly, the classic board game we all loved or hated, has turned 75 years old.  Over one billion people have played the legendary game (who knows how many finished a match).  The time-consuming game is great for rainy days, or to kill time, and it seems that each player knows a different set of rules.  Either way, we are all familiar with Rich Uncle Pennybags, aka Mr. Monopoly.

As a game that interestingly enough started during the Great Depression, Monopoly is known worldwide and has over one hundred different versions!  Heck, there is even a solid gold version of the game on display at the Museum of American Finance on Wall Street.  Everyone can remember gathering “free money” by passing Go, landing on Free Parking, desperately trying to land on Boardwalk, or avoiding Jail at all costs.

Games could last hours and each player protected their property with houses and hotels.  Protecting what you own has been a crucial lesson from a game that has been around for almost a century.  There are many ways to accomplish this, but insurance is one simple way to have peace of mind over what you own.  Encharter Insurance offers both home and auto insurance to best fit your needs.  Moreover, Encharter offers Personal Umbrella Insurance which protects from additional liability at your home of about 1 million dollars.   Give your local agent a call at (888) 865-1244 or stop by one of Encharter’s four offices.

Meteorologists are expecting the storm to hit tomorrow and Haitian authorities have already begun evacuations, but to where? The island is still recovering from the devastating losses of January’s earthquake, not to mention still recuperating from hurricanes Fay, Gustav, Hanna and Ike of 2008. For more information on the Tropical Storm Tomas prediction and Haiti’s preemptive actions, click here.

Stories like that make us feel thankful for all the things we’ve got, like a house, a car, a job; and then we’re reminded that tragedy can strike at any time and, in what seems like a split second, everything could be gone. What in the world is “NuCaptcha”?

Every time someone makes a new account on almost any website, he or she must examine a block of text which can be read by a human, but very difficult for a computer to decipher.  This prevents spam accounts from signing up on websites and then posting advertisements and links in the comment sections.  However, technology is catching up with these codes so the norm from now on might be watching a short video clip and inputting the text displayed in the video.

Sometimes the jumbled text can be difficult for a human to read, so this will make it easier to see, but just inside of a video.  This innovative idea, called NuCaptcha, will drastically decline the amount of spam on websites, reducing the annoyance endured by developers and readers.  The video will only be a few seconds long, but only slightly longer than it would take to make out the text in those hard to read boxes.

With the release of NuCaptcha coming within the next few days, web developers will breathe a sigh of relief because they know they are well protected.  Likewise, Encharter Insurance can give clients an extra level of protection with CT Personal Umbrella Insurance.  Umbrella Insurance offers additional liability coverage, should an accident happen at home.  Call an agent today at (888) 865-1244 or visit our website.
