Getting Ready for College? Protect Your Stuff!

I’ve been out of high school for a few years now, but I remember (all too well) how stressful it was to prepare for college—taking the SATs, filling out the FAFSA, picking the right school. It was NUTS! I was convinced that my parents and I were not going to make it through the year living in the same house. The good news is that we made it, though, and I have to say that it was totally worth it. College was a really great experience, so I would like to encourage you to not let the preparation ruin the adventure for you. In light of that, here is a tool that you might find helpful to you as you gear up for the first step to the working world: Newsweek Education. Here, you find lists and tips and tools to help you make your college search just a little bit easier.

Something else to put your mind at ease: did you know that when you move to your dorm room, (with some insurance carriers) your stuff is covered under your parents’ Homeowners Insurance policy? The policy may give you 10% of the contents limit listed in the coverage, which means that, should something happen to the stuff in your room, you’re covered as long as the damage doesn’t exceed 10% of the contents limit coverage on your parents’ policy. If you or your parents are interested in learning more about this type of coverage, contact your local Encharter Insurance agent today!

You can call them at 888-865-1244, you can visit our virtual insurance office at www.encharter.com or you can visit one of our local offices. You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter!
