Why Do We Need Car Insurance? Road Trips to NC!

I recently got back from a road trip to North Carolina and it wasn’t a short drive. Any time you drive for hours on end, it is important to take frequent stops to stretch your legs and stay alert. Not only is drowsy driving extremely risky, you have to stay on your toes for other drivers as well.

In the thirteen hours of road time I saw a car in the fast lane pull over to the left to make an illegal u-turn to go northbound, a truck veer across a couple lanes because it thought a sedan was coming into its lane, confused cars straddling two lanes in construction zones, and countless speeders.

It’s no secret that there are bad drivers out there, but seeing so many in a short period of time helped me realize even more how important my Connecticut car insurance is. For the car that made the illegal u-turn, I was only two cars behind it and with slower reflexes or looking down at the radio or my phone, an accident most likely would have occurred. Keeping your eyes on the road is constantly important.

See: Do you have a designated texter?

Safety while driving cannot be understated. There is a reason why there are so many companies offering CT car insurance and various aspects to it. With 70,000 auto accidents happening a year in Connecticut, it’s something all of us will eventually face, most likely more than once.

Reviewing your CT insurance before long road trips and not driving while impaired, distracted, or drowsy will greatly decrease the chance of an accident. Drive safe!

Car Seat Safety and Your CT Car Insurance

Adding a child to the mix makes daily tasks a bit more difficult. Getting ready, meals, and driving all take longer and you have more responsibilities. Driving is especially different because you have to make sure your child is strapped in and safe while on the road.

Moreover, you have to make sure you are following the rules of the car seat. Height, weight, and age all contribute to the factors of whether or not your child has to be in a car seat. Each seat is different and you should abide by their rules.

In the past, a common rule of thumb was, as soon as your toddler reached the age of 1, you no longer had to have them in a rear-facing car seat. However, car safety experts have increased that age to 2. Severe injuries decrease by 75% in a rear-facing car seat during an accident.

In the event of an accident, the first things on your mind should be your own well-being, the well-being of other passengers, if you’re in the way of traffic, and calling your Connecticut auto insurance provider. Paying attention to car seats rules and regulations can help make sure your child is as safe as they can be. You may want to have them face forward so it is easier to interact with them, but safety should come first.

Besides the car seats, driving slower and with greater caution should be other tactics to use with your child in the car. You don’t want your CT auto insurance bill to go up after an accident because of your numerous other expenses that directly involve your child.

Drive safely, and follow the rules of the road and car seats because your children will develop your habits. Before you know it, they’ll be getting their license and you’ll be adding them to your CT insurance policy.

Barack Obama announced that he will be running for re-election in 2012. Just two years and a few months removed from taking office, Obama launched his 2012 fundraising campaign.

Although he’s the first politician to officially announce his candidacy, we can

expect more to begin announcing, especially Republicans. It seems the presidential race starts earlier and earlier every time, but it may be a few more months until things really start to heat up. Obama’s every move will continue to be analyzed and scrutinized, leaving the next year as an important role for the 2012 decision.

The campaign is expected to raise an unprecedented $1 billion.  As for now, Obama will likely continue with performing his presidential duties and leave the fundraising for his campaign managers.

From healthcare to war, the president influences our lives every day. Understanding what “Obamacare” means to you and your family can help you with putting together your future finances. Insurance and social security is no simple matter. Benefits, Connecticut insurance, and Medicare can all get intermingled. Differentiating your social security from your CT home insurance from your life insurance is complicated, so take the time to review your CT insurance and other aid.

CT Insurance: Protection Against Bad Accident Prediction

CT InsuranceSmart phones and iPads have become increasingly popular in the last year. More and more people are constantly connected and gaining access to their emails and Facebook from their pocket. It’s no surprise that Apple, Google, and Microsoft are all in the smart phone market, looking to get a share of the pie.

Because of the ever-changing atmosphere of technology, most experts just go with the flow and try to keep up with the current trends. However, this did not stop the International Data Corporation (IDC) from trying to predict what smart phone sales will be in 2015.

Microsoft recently partnered with Nokia, so IDC predicts that the Windows smart phone will obtain a greater market share than Apple’s iPhone. Although most people see this as surprising, considering Apple has three times the market share of Microsoft, it is not out of the question.

Predicting the technology industry in any way can make you look foolish in the long run, sometimes even sillier than a sports announcer (however, they end up regretting their prediction all of the time. Just watch this clip about why VCU shouldn’t have been in the NCAA Tournament – they were in the Final Four).

Moreover, predicting technology is like predicting an accident, you just never know what will happen or when it will happen. Accidents can happen on the road, affecting you Connecticut auto insurance, or at home, affecting your Connecticut home insurance. Either way, an accident is unpredictable. Whether it’s a car accident or a natural disaster, it never hurts to be prepared and keep up with your CT insurance.

Everyone can attest to the fact that work can be stressful. Heck, home can be too with paying the electric, phone, CT insurance, cable, and water bills. But for the most part, work stress can become overwhelming and seek employees to find other occupations.

Yahoo recently generated a list of the 5 most stressful jobs. The five winners losers are:

-Commercial Airline Pilot

-Public Relations Executive

-Senior Corporate Executive

-Photojournalist

-Newscaster

Overall, that’s a pretty logical list. If you ever get stressed out at work, driving home is a good way to clear your head. That short commute alone can let you gather your thoughts and prepare for things to do that night or over the weekend. A calming process will allow you to not drive aggravated (as we know, angry driving or road rage can lead to increasing your CT car insurance).

Even though work can get stressful, it could be worse. Having the lives of hundreds of people in your hands as a pilot is definitely stressful. But we’re here to help make your choice for Connecticut insurance stress-free! Work is hard enough; let us make your insurance-shopping experience easier!

CT Boat InsuranceNow that the lakes have finally thawed out and beaches are becoming more and more crowded, boat owners are starting to move their boats from their backyard to the pier. If you have your own boat, you’ve probably been looking forward to this day for a few months. It’ll be great to cruise out to open water and relax or fish while taking in the sun.

Whether or not you fish, race, sail, or just like to be in the sea, you have to make sure your Connecticut boat insurance is up to par. Rarely would you ever think of your Connecticut insurance in the winter, but it’s time to make sure you have all areas covered.

Liability, medical payments, and physical damage should all be covered with your CT insurance. Boating is supposed to be an enjoyable experience, but unexpected weather or malfunctioning equipment could lead to something going awry.

Check all aspects of your boat before taking it out each time. You can head to the Coast Guard’s Boating Safety Resource Center for more tips on how to stay safe in the water.

April is National Car Care Month

Did you know April is National Car Care Month? I sure didn’t. April makes sense though. It’s right after winter, so people should be making sure that their cars more summer-friendly. Snow tires should be long gone, and excess weight in the trunk (such as sand, shovels, or ice) should be stored in the garage.

Car care is always important. In 2009, 80% of all inspected cars had a failure in at least one portion of the system. Every aspect of the car is essential, so seeing the check engine light on should be an instant warning flag to send your car to the mechanic.

To help with National Car Care Month, dealers such as Subaru are offering free service inspections. Until April 30th you can bring in your Subaru so they can look under your car and hood for any issues that can affect your MPG.

Not only should you check under your hood, you should check your Connecticut auto insurance policy. Many people travel more during the spring and summer, so that leaves your car more vulnerable to accidents. Nothing would ruin a nice sunny day more than getting in an accident and having to exchange CT car insurance papers.

Unfortunately, accidents do happen, so having the proper CT insurance can go a long way. When an accident does occur, it’s good to know your coverage to help put you at ease.

As we finish up April, make sure to get your car checked and have all the dashboard lights off. Yes, that includes the gas light.

Don’t Be Creepy; Buy CT Home Insurance!

Abandoned and old homes at the top of the dark, scary hill are staples for scary movies and urban legends. Although most of us know there’s really no reason to be afraid, the idea is still there. The homes just look creepy. This fear is the same reason why I race up the basement stairs after shutting off the light faster than the price of gas in the last month.

Needless to say, most abandoned homes are not sold quickly. Yahoo released a list of the 5 creepiest abandoned mansions (Ohio has two, so I’ll be staying away from Ohio for a bit). Plenty of rooms, plus old and abandoned is the perfect recipe of creepiness.

If somebody ever moves into a creepy, abandoned home, they’ll undoubtedly want decent Connecticut homeowners insurance. Regrettably, there is no spot on the CT home insurance form for creepiness or being haunted, but adding additional coverage wouldn’t hurt.

Abandoned homes are commonly broken into and haunted homes usually have items broken on a regular basis. Many people would attribute that to the weather (haunted homes always seem to be in windy and rainy climates in movies), but either way things can get broken by accident and Mother Nature.

You may not want to buy a creepy home and I don’t blame you, but when you do purchase a new home make sure you have the proper Connecticut insurance so you can protect your valuable asset.

April is Here; Time for CT RV Insurance

April is here and so is the first full month of spring. Shovels are hopefully tucked safely in the back corner of the garage and your heating costs will steadily decline for the month. Unfortunately, April teases us by also bringing a lot of rain.

Although we were able to toss the snow shovels, umbrellas now surround our entryway as there’s always the possibility for an afternoon shower. Rain is a slight nuisance, but is nothing compared to getting a few inches of snow on the ground. Plus, “April showers bring May flowers!”

Full bloom is just around the corner and we can expect more travel and vacations in the near future. I know I expect to see more motor homes gracing the interstates as owners drive down south or to Cape Cod in style.

Of course, purchasing an RV is a big decision, not everyone can win one on The Price Is Right. Connecticut RV insurance comes into play along with any furnishings the RV needs. Some people take motor home Connecticut insurance coverage off in the winter, so if you decided to take that route, don’t forget to put it back on your CT insurance policy before you take it for a spin.

You may not like the showers now, but when you hit the road for vacation or enjoy the May flowers, these rain storms will be a distant memory.

Spring Hazards & Your Connecticut Car Insurance

Connecticut Car InsuranceIt’s spring! Who doesn’t love the fact that snow won’t happen for at least 6 months, car accident rates will decline (as will calls inquiring about CT auto insurance), and we’ll replace heating costs with air conditioning costs.

Sadly, this does not mean all Connecticut insurance hazards are gone.

Insurance.com warns us of springtime hazards to our insurance policies:

-Flooding

-Ice Dam Damage

-Pot Holes

-Cracked Driveways

-Hail

-Landscaping

-Rust

Floods and pot holes are the big worries for most of us. Fortunately, pot holes can be covered by the collision portion of your Connecticut auto insurance. They are still a pain though.

Keep an eye out for the amount of rain we can expect in the next month or so. If you live in a valley you probably know what to expect in the event of excessive rain, but precaution can help you out in case you lose water pressure.

Good luck this spring, I hope the pot holes will get filled in quickly and not give you too much trouble.
