CT Umbrella Liability InsuranceI love long weekends, especially during the summer! Lucky for me, there’s a long weekend coming up this Friday—Labor Day Weekend!

It’s summer’s last hoorah, so that means more barbecuing, more splishing, more splashing, more badminton, more beach volleyball, more sun, more shine, more fun! Time to get it in now before school really starts to kick and the busiest time of year begins this Fall.

The Connecticut Insurance agents at Encharter Insurance would like to take this opportunity to remind you to play safely this weekend. If you’re planning on having guests for the long holiday, the likelihood of someone injuring themselves on your property increases dramatically. It might be a good time to talk to your insurance agent about your current CT Homeowners Insurance policy and its liability limits. Are you adequately protected from loss? Or should you consider the purchase of a Connecticut Umbrella Insurance policy?

Review your policies with your Encharter Insurance agent; know your policies; and have fun this weekend! Make this summer go out with a bang!

Residents of Connecticut: It’s time to brace ourselves for Hurricane Irene. The storm is predicted to hit us this weekend. What can you do to make sure that you’re prepared? Here are some hurricane preparedness tips from Plymouth Rock Assurance Corporation:

  • Track the storm to keep an eye on its progress.
  • Your car should be placed in a garage or away from potential flood waters. Well before the storm arrives, fill up the gas in your car in the event you need to evacuate.
  • Create a “Family Emergency Plan”—you want to ensure that every family member knows how to reach or reconnect with each other
  • Assemble an “Emergency Supply Kit” (for recommended contents of an appropriate Emergency Supply Kit, click here)
  • Make sure that you and family members are aware of evacuation routes and the location of potential emergency shelters

This weekend, please be aware of the limitations of your current Connecticut Insurance policies. NEVER assume that you have coverage, especially in the event of a natural disaster. Please contact your CT Insurance agent at Encharter Insurance if you have any questions or reservations about your insurance.

Car Insurance CT Young DriverAs a parent of a driving teen, I am sure that you are constantly thinking of new ways to keep your very mobile little person safe. Here’s a new idea that might help you out at least a little bit: what if you and your teen took 15-20 minutes to sit down and create a list of expectations that come with this new responsibility and then you both sign it—kind of like a safety contract? Some expectations that you might want to include no distracted driving (i.e. no texting and driving, use of wireless earpiece for phone calls when necessary, and a limit to the number of friends in the car at one time), regular car maintenance (i.e. oil changes, car washes, etc.), along with so many others. For some other ideas or to download a free parent-teen safe driving contract, click here.

After you feel safer with that under your teen’s belt, it will be time to look into some Connecticut Car Insurance for a young driver, and you’ll need to work with a knowledgeable CT Insurance agent in order to be reassured that your child will be protected. Our agents at Encharter Insurance are waiting to help you today! They will work hard to get you the best possible policy for the best possible price because they know the value of protecting your child’s life with appropriate Auto Insurance!

CT Jewelry Insurance & Your Caribbean Vacation Memories

Connecticut Jewelry InsuranceMy parents love to cruise in the Caribbean all the time and the one thing my mom has always said about their trips is, “the jewelry is beautiful!” So, if you’ve taken advantage of the summer vacation to go cruising in the Caribbean (or wherever…), be sure to take a peek at the jewelry for me and let me know what it looks like (not to mention bringing a piece home with you too…).

Vacationing in the tropics can be lots of fun, especially if you have a nice ring, bracelet, earrings, etc. to remember it with. Of course, the first thing you’ll want to do when you get home with that jewelry besides show it off to all of your friends, is insure it!

You can insure your valuable pieces of jewelry by purchasing a CT Jewelry Floater policy and scheduling the item to your current CT Home Insurance policy. A typical CT Jewelry Insurance policy will include coverage for theft, loss of a stone, and more!

I can’t think of a better way to relive your dream Caribbean vacation than by wearing a memory forever—so you’ll want to keep that memory in mint condition. Contact your CT Insurance agent at Encharter Insurance today about purchasing a CT Jewelry Insurance policy!

Your Daughter’s Sweet 16 & Your CT Liability Coverage

Umbrella Insurance CTSo your little princess is turning 16 and wants a huge Sweet 16 party, not far from the MTV Sweet 16 show, of course.  Besides the invitations, the cake, and the decorations, you’ll need to rent a hall!  But will you have to look into liability insurance?

It’s always a good idea to have a chat with your CT Insurance agent if there are any questions about your insurance needs. That being said, in most cases, if you have a CT Homeowners Insurance Policy, then the liability coverage on that policy should cover you.  Homeowners Policy provides liability coverage for various “insured locations”, one of which is “part of the premises occasionally rented to the ‘insured for personal use’.”

But, asking your local Encharter Insurance agent about additional liability insurance is the smartest choice. Additional liability coverage oftentimes takes the form of an Umbrella Policy, which (in most cases) would give you an extra $1,000,000 in liability coverage.  With all the fanfare of the biggest party of your child’s year, anything can happen and it’s best to be prepared—the agents at Encharter Insurance are ready to prepare you for almost anything (you’re on your own with the teenagers…).

Insurance for Private Schools in CT

Insurance for Schools CT

The Master's School Graduation 2011

Having just graduated from The Master’s School on Westledge Road in West Simsbury (one of our newest partners on our Encharter Partner’s Page), I know firsthand the value of my private education. The Master’s School, and other private schools like it, foster tight-knit community and provide a personalized and dedicated education for each individual student. Private schools, like the The Master’s School, prepare students, not only for college, but for life. This kind of education needs an insurance policy that matches its personalization, dedication and value.

If you are looking for insurance for a private school, it is important to note that not all of the insurance programs out there are the same. Some things that you need to ask yourself when searching CT insurance for private schools are:

  • Does the company offer coverages for sexual abuse, educators’ liability, and management liability that are essential to protect your school?
  • Does the company have experience handling claims involving children?
  • Does the company offer solutions to make your school safer?
  • Does independent insurance analyst, A.M., rate the company “A” or above?

And if you are a resident of the Simsbury area and thinking about a private education for your children, make sure to check out The Master’s School, because they offer quality education from the inside out!If you are a private school administrator and you’re looking for a private school insurance policy that will cover your students, not only in the classroom, but also on the field, then we’d love to talk with you! The knowledgeable and expert Connecticut Insurance agents at Encharter Insurance would like to help you find the right insurance policy for your school, your faculty and your students.
