Restaurant Insurance: Protection for your Business from the Business

Restaurant Insurance CTI love good food and who doesn’t? Something else I love is watching the Food Network and learning how some small business owners run their restaurants. While watching those shows, it occurs to me that there is a lot of work and responsibility associated with owning a restaurant. Not only is the restaurant owner responsible for employing and managing his staff and making the business profitable, he has the huge task of satisfying picky eaters and complying with food regulations to keep customers from getting sick. Food poisoning is a very real and a very dangerous threat to the success of a restaurant, not to mention the risk of equipment breakdown, which can lead to injury and property damage.

As a restaurant owner, are you properly protected from the potential losses of that may arise from simply running your business? Are you sure that if your restaurant sustained a loss due to equipment breakdown, or if it was involved in a lawsuit for a case of food poisoning, would your Connecticut Restaurant Insurance protect you?

Give your local Encharter Insurance agent a call today and review your current policies with them. They can let you know where the vulnerabilities lie and where you are most at risk. Then, they can offer some solutions in coverage to give you some peace of mind and keep your livelihood safe.

P.S. Be sure to check out the restaurant partners that have joined up with Encharter Insurance.

CT Jewelry Insurance: From One Newly Engaged Gal to Another

Insurance for Engagement RingsOctober is a wonderful month to become engaged, if I do say so myself. And Okemo Mountain Ski Resort is a wonderful place to become engaged, while overlooking the beautiful hills of the Northeast and Killington Mountain Ski Resort seems close enough to touch. Yep, isn’t it wonderful to become engaged? I think so!

Well now that you (and I) have the ring, it’s time to kick our wedding planning into high gear: pick our venues, send out “Save the Dates”, and buy an insurance policy for our engagement rings.

Lucky for us, I work for an independent insurance agency and that makes me privy to some pretty helpful information. For example, typically there is coverage available for your jewelry under the Personal Property coverage on your current Connecticut Home Insurance policy. However, most homeowners policies have limits on the amount of coverage they have for jewelry and it’s restricted, e.g. “mysterious disappearance” or the loss of a piece of jewelry is not covered, nor the replacement of a gemstone.

If you want to make sure that your jewelry is adequately protected, you should talk to your Connecticut Insurance agent about a CT Jewelry Insurance policy. Most typical jewelry insurance policies cover for theft, loss, stone replacement and more. Never assume that you have coverage. It is always a good idea to consult with your Encharter Insurance agent to make sure that you and your possessions are properly covered.

So congrats on your engagement and kick off your wedding plans with a visit to your insurance agent about insuring your ring!

CT Car Insurance & Lessons Learned from a Swiss Driver

Car Insurance CTWant to know what’s worse than speeding? Speeding at three times the speed limit.

Want to know what’s worse than speeding at three times the speed limit? Taking pictures that document your illegal speeds, then those pictures being found during an unrelated investigation and then those same photos being used against you in court months later.

Unfortunately for a 28 year-old Swiss gentleman, the worse has happened to him. While driving at 320 kmh (approx. 200 mph), which is almost three times the speed limit, he took photos of the speedometer and the road he was on (and the phone’s camera was nice enough to make life easy on law enforcement by recording the date and the time of the speed-fest). Then, while being questioned 6 months later during an investigation for another case, police found these well-documented photos and confiscated his license and placed him under arrest. These photos will most likely be used against him during his trial.

Lessons learned:

  • Be a safe driver and don’t speed, especially not at three times the speed limit.
  • Be a safe driver and don’t drive distracted; avoid texting or taking photos of yourself doing stupid stuff, let alone stuff that will get you into trouble.
  • Protect yourself from the crazies who speed and drive distracted by insuring yourself with a good Connecticut Auto Insurance policy.

Review your current CT Car Insurance policy with an Encharter Insurance agent today. They can help you understand your coverage and help you make sure that you are adequately protected from the crazy 28-year-old-speeding-picture-taking-Bentley-driving maniacs…oh, did I mention he was driving a Bentley Continental? Yeah…*smh*

Fire Safety WeekAs the daughter of a firefighter, I always knew to unplug unnecessary appliances, to check the smoke detectors regularly, what our escape route was and where to meet, along with sundry other fire safety/prevention tidbits. I guess growing up with that kind of information, you start to take it for granted, which is why I was glad to hear that October is Fire Safety Month! (Take this online quiz to test your Fire Safety IQ!)

There is nothing like a refreshing reminder to protect yourself, your family and your possessions from the destructive nature of fire. Visit the National Fire Protection Association website for materials and tidbits to know more about Fire Safety!

Aside from heeding the good advice of the folks at the NFPA, another great way to prevent loss in the event of a fire is making sure that your current Connecticut Homeowners Insurance policies are adequate. Having a chat with your local Connecticut Insurance agent at Encharter Insurance and reviewing your current policies is a great way to get some peace of mind. Be prepared before tragedy strikes: have a plan, check your smoke detectors, and talk to your insurance agent today!
